The Maya users can use Squash deformer for making a setup to squash and stretch an object in accordance with their need. This deformer is useful for both in modeling and animation.
Nonlinear squash deformer is applied to generate the consequence of stretch and squash managing the scale manipulation as the deformer itself is liable to work out the same at the time of squashing.
In order to use this deformer, initially choose the object, then apply the deformer from the Create deformer > Nonlinear menu. The default setting should be the same. The deformer is generated at once and it can be verified via the channel box. In the input option of the channel box opt for the squash option to show the parameters for the deformer.
