What is the basic differences among bridge and culvert

Construction Software

Sami Ullah, the renowned civil engineer comes up with another informative construction video tutorial where he briefly explains the variations among bridge and culvert.

Though the culver is treated as a sort of bridge but there are some basic differences which are described below :-

Technically the variation occurs with the span length. Culverts are upto 6 m length while Bridges are longer than 6 m.

Culverts are mainly utilized to facilitate passage of water across physical obstacles while bridges are constructed to arrange passage to people and vehicles over big water bodies.

Bridges do not contain floors i.e. in bridges the two piers or abutments are not joined at bottom through a surface, while culverts contain a floor and come in circular, rectangular, elliptical, or even square in size.

Bridge is designed for the height of over 20 feet while the culvert is designed for height below 20 feet.
