How to determine the quantity of concrete in a staircase

In this civil engineering video tutorial, you will learn the process for finding out the quantity of concrete in a staircase in the construction site.

To start with, the quantity of concrete in each part of the staircase should be calculated and all the quantities should added together to determine the total quantity of concrete in staircase.

Firstly, find out the concrete quantity in beam. The size of the beam = 0.3 x 0.450 and length = 4 meter

So, 0.3 x 0.450 x 4 = 0.54 m3

Secondly, find out the concrete quantity in stringer slab. The size of the slab = 2 x 0.150 and length = 5 meter

So, 2 x 0.150 x 5 = 1.5 m3

Thirdly, find out the quantity of concrete in the steps of the staircase.

The following formula will be used for this purpose :-

Stringer slab quantity / 2 = 1.5 / 2 = 0.75 m3

Fourthly, find out the quantity of concrete in landing slab. The size of the slab = 0.150 x 2 and length = 4 meter.

So, 0.150 x 2 x 4 = 1.2 m3

If all the above figures are summed up, the quantity required for the casting of staircase will be determined.

So, 0.54 + 1.5 + 0.75 + 1.2 = 3.99 m3

The total quantity of concrete for the entire staircase = 3.99 m3
