How to work out the concrete quantities for RCC work in slope column footing

Construction Software

By going through this exclusive construction video tutorial, you will learn how to work out the quantity of concrete in a trapezoidal or sloped column footing. The sloped column footing is mostly found in the construction of any high rise building.

The calculation should be started from base level. The base is in rectangular shape. The dimension of the base is 1 meter x 1 meter and height is 0.30 meter.

Initially, the calculate the volume for footing without slope as follow :-

Length = 1 meter
Width or breadth =1 meter
Height = 0.30 meter

After multiplying all the values, we get = 0.30 m3

Now, you have to calculate the volume for footing with slope as follow :-
Here, a equation is used to find the volume :-
V = h/3 (A1 + A2 √A1 x A2)
A1 denotes the area of bottom square
A2 denotes the area of top square

We already know the area of bottom = 1 x 1 meter and area of top = 0.3 x 0.3 (as the size of the column = 0.30 x 0.30)

So, A1 = 1 x 1 = 1m2
A2 = 0.3 x 0.3 = 0.09 m2
h denotes the distance between the bottom square and top square of the footing.
h = 0.50 m

After putting all the values, we get the following result :-
0.50 / 3 (1 + 0.09 + √1 x 0.09) = 0.23 m3

Now, find the quantity of concrete for column portion as follow :-
Column Length = 0.30 m
Column Breadth = 0.30 m
Column Height = 3.50 m
So, L x B x H = 0.30 x 0.30 x 3.50 = 0.32 m3

So, total quantity of concrete = Quantity of base + Quantity of slope + Quantity of column = 0.30 + 0.23 + 0.32 = 0.85 m3
