Some vital tips to determine the quantity of steel bar for a triangular shape

Construction Software

This civil engineering video tutorial will teach you how to determine the quantity of steel bar in meter or kg for a triangular shape.

The length of the triangular shape is taken as 4 meter and height is taken as 2 meter. The bars will be placed both to the direction of length and direction of height.

The diameter of the bars is 30 mm@500 c/c distance for both directions.

The lengths of the bars will be determined based on the angle of the triangular shape. In this purpose, the following formula will be used :-

tanθ = Opp /Adj (opposite /adjacent)

By putting the relevant values, we get the following result :-
θ = tan-1 = 2/4 = 26.565 degree
To determine the length horizontally, draw a line over it to form a small triangle.
Height is given as 500 mm or 0.5 meter and the value of length is unknown and it is taken as x.

Now, tan(26.565) = 0.5 / x
So, x = 0.5 / tan(26.565) = 1 meter
Now, the lengths to horizontal direction are gradually taken as L1, L2 and L3
So, L1 = 4 – 1 = 3 meter

L2 = 3 – 1 = 2 meter
L3 = 2 – 1 = 1 meter
Therefore, total length = 3+2+1 = 6 meter

In order to find out the lengths of the bar in vertical directions, go through the following video tutorial.
